End Game Chapter 3

Arytiss, Elsyia, and I were fighting a giant ogre. A bigger, uglier version of regular ogres. Arytiss has his twin swords out, Elsyia had her scythe, and I had my katana drawn. We had the ogre surrounded on three sides. The thing was trying to decide which of us to go after. That was when we made our move. I swung my sword through one of its legs, causing it to fall to its knees. The Arytiss took a swing at it leaving a big gash in its chest. Its health was low now, so Elysia delivered the final blow. She swung her scythe and cleaved through the head of the ogre, getting rid of the last of its health, and causing it to de-spawn. That was a victory for us.

“Hey Nice job guys.” I said.

“Thanks. You did pretty good to.” Arytiss said.

“Yeah we’re freaking awesome.” Elysia said.

Then a notification came up in front of us.

Group bonus

“Group bonus?” I asked.

“Basically because we defeated the ogre as a team we all get a bonus instead of just me because I dealt the final blow.” Elysia said.

“Oh cool. So what do we get?” I asked.

“Let’s find out.” Elysia said.

We all picked the accept bonus option and we were each given something different. I was given an experience point bonus, Elysia got some new pauldrons, and Arytiss got a new set of twin sabers.

“Wow. Nice gear.” Arytiss said admiring his new swords.

“Yeah though I don’t know about the pauldrons.” Elysia said.

“Keep them,” I said. “You don’t have a lot of armor on anyway. May as well keep them on. I mean all you have on is a t-shirt and jeans. Some pauldrons should add to your defense without cutting into your speed too much.” I said.

“Yeah I guess. So what now?” Elysia asked.

“Well we could-”

“GERONIMO!” Someone shouted.

We looked up to see some guy falling down having clearly been throw from somewhere nearby and he crashed into the ground in front of us. He seemed alright and his health wasn’t too low so he wasn’t in any real danger at the moment. Still, the reason for his falling down in front of us was confusing.

“Uh are you ok?” I asked.

The guy got up and dusted off his dragon scale armor… hold on, dragon scale armor?

“Yeah I’m fine. Just pissed off one of the mama ogres is all.” He said.

“Uh where did you get dragon scale armor? That’s not something you should be able to get for a few floors up.” I said.

“Oh that? It was hidden in a secret chest in an ogre lair.” He said.

I looked him up and down. He was covered head to toe in this dragon scale armor, he had a large halberd on his back, and a folding shield on his left arm. He looked ready for battle so why was he out here falling from the sky?

“Ok then. Anyway, I’m Kai, this is Elysia, and Arytiss. Who are you and why did you come flying out of nowhere?” I asked.

“I’m Zero. As for why I came flying by, well I pissed off a mama ogre and she threw me out here. In fact she should be out here in just a moment to try and crush me.” Zero said.

Sure enough, a giant ogre that looked female which surprised me as I didn’t think there were very many female ogres to begin with, came running out into the field and towards Zero. I looked at the ogre and I could tell she was pissed.

“What did you do?” I asked.

“Remember that lair I raided for the secret chest? Yeah that was hers.” Zero said.

“So you stole from an ogre is what you’re saying.” I said.

“Yep.” Zero said.

The ogre was upon him now. It raised its arms and got ready to crush Zero when he moved to the side and dodged the blow. Then he grabbed his halberd and swung it at the ogre’s head. He connected causing a large amount of its health to drop. The ogre was slowly losing health from its injury and would die soon. It tried to run away before Zero could smash it again but it couldn’t get away in time. Zero swung his halberd again and cut the ogre down, killing it. Elysia, Arytiss, and I just looked at him wondering what we should do.

“Nice job.” I said.

“Thanks. Hey are you guys a team?” Zero asked.

“Yeah, why?” I asked.

“Mind if I join you guys? I was one of the beta testers and I know where a bunch of secret stashes of equipment and such are.” Zero said.

“Give us a minute to discuss that.” I said.

Elysia, Arytiss, and I huddled up to discuss Zero joining us.

“What do you guys think?” I asked.

“He knows about several secret stashes and he was a beta tester. He knows more about the game than we do.” Arytiss said.

“But if he’s a big fat ogre magnet, should we really have him along?” Elysia asked worried for everyone’s safety.

“Well I’m sure his knowledge of the game makes up for that.” Arytiss said.

“Well I guess but only if he can lead us to a secret stash or two and get us some new equipment.” Elysia said.

“I think we can arrange something.” I said.

We all broke up the huddle and turned to face Zero.

“Alright you can join us. But we would appreciate it if you could lead us to one of these secret stashes.” I said.

“I can do that. There’s actually one not too far from here.” Zero said.

“Lead the way.” I said.

Zero turned and led us out of the field and up into the mountains where the ogres lived. From there he led us up to a large cave.

“This is it” Zero said.

“This cave is it?” I asked.

“There’s a chest inside at the back of the cave with weapons in it. These kind of weapons you can only get in this chest. No one but me and a couple of the other beta testers know the general area. I’m the only one who knows how to get to the chests though.” Zero said.

“Cool. Then let’s get some new weapons.” Arytiss said.

Arytiss walked into the cave and Elsyia, Zero, and I followed him in. After an hour long walk we reached the back of the cave. Standing there was a lone chest in the middle of the room.

“That’s it. Just be careful. This chest is rigged to spawn an ogre in here after we take the stuff.” Zero said.

“Is that what happened to you last time?” I asked.

“Pretty much. Anyway, go ahead and open it. There should be enough weapons in there for us to each have one.” Zero said.

I nodded then walked up to the chest. I opened it and we all looked inside. There were four weapons inside and we each grabbed one.

Elysia grabbed a new scythe with razor spikes in outer edge of the blade. Arytiss got new twin sabers with electricity running through them. I got a new katana with the guard designed to look like a skull and the hilt covered in a strange design. Zero got a new and more dangerous looking halberd than before.

I looked at the name for my new weapon to see what it was called.

Weapon: Death’s katana (Advanced)

“Whoa an advanced weapon.” I said.

“Yeah pretty cool huh. These are probably more powerful than any other weapon in the game. Except for the ones in a secret stash about four floors up.” Zero said.

“These are freaking sweet.” I said.

“And the ogre should spawn in right…about…now.” Zero said.

Just then an ogre spawned in the cave blocking the entrance. We had to fight our way out. Arytiss readied his new sabers, I readied my katana, Elysia readied her new scythe, and Zero grabbed his new halberd. We were ready for a fight now.
