The Dragon Reborn Chapter 1

Years ago, the Superstition Mountains Pokeumans Base had been attacked and destroyed by Pokextinction troops. I lost a good friend in the battle. But we’ve since moved to The Alaskan Pokeumans Base, and we’ve managed to move on. I have an 18 year old son and a 14 year old daughter. Life is interesting and there’s never a dull moment. But at least something is always happening even if most of the time it’s with my daughter tormenting her brother. I often walk down the halls of the base waiting for the sound of them arguing to start up, as I know it will.

“Jackie get back here!” My son shouted from down the hall.

I turned to see them arguing as always. My daughter, Jackie the infernape, had taken her brother’s laptop… again.

“Well that didn’t take long. Dammit I’m getting too old for this.” I said with a sigh.

I saw Jackie running towards me with her older brother Serk the haxorus close behind her. Looks like I’d have to stop them once again.

“Stop!” I said.

Jackie and Serk both saw me and came to a grinding halt.

“Hi dad.” Jackie said.

“Dad Jackie keeps stealing my laptop.” Serk complained.

“Both of you stop!” I said loudly.

They both stopped talking.

“Jackie, why’d you take your brother’s laptop?” I asked.

“It’s funny. He thinks he can get me but I know better and it’s fun watching him flail around trying to catch me.” Jackie said.

“Jackie, hand it over.” I said.

Jackie handed me the laptop and I took it then looked at Serk.

“Serk. You’re the older brother. You need to learn to act like it.” I said.

“But she’s a brat.” Serk said.

“She’s also your only sister. You can’t just attack her every time. And what are you so worried about anyway? Is there something on your computer you don’t want me to see?” I asked.

“Um… no.” Serk said with a nervous smile.

“Then you won’t mind if I look and see how you’re doing on that essay that your teacher said was due next week.” I said.

“Uh right. Essay.” Serk said.

I opened his laptop and turned it on. Jackie was snickering and I knew why. She may be only fourteen but she was a conniving and devious girl. She loved getting her brother into trouble and making his life difficult. But in a way she meant well. She was always offended by things her brother would look at on his computer and was really just trying to  get him to stop looking it up. However, it looks like Serk had indeed been looking at things he wasn’t allowed to.

“Serk. Why is there an adult site up on your computer?” I asked.

“Um… n-no reason.” Serk said clearly lying.

“Serk. I’m taking your laptop and you’re grounded. One month.” I said.

“Oh come on!” Serk said.

“Two months. Want to go for three?” I asked.

“No. I’ll go to my room and work on the essay.” Serk said.

“Good. And Jackie, we need to have a talk.” I said.

“Sure thing.” Jackie said.

Serk walked off to his room and Jackie followed me to my room.

“Jackie, I know you mean well and you’re just trying to get your brother to stop watching those videos, but it’s mine and your mother’s job to worry about. Not yours. Alright?” I asked.

“I know. I just wish he would stop watching it. It’s so disgusting.” Jackie said.

“Trust me Jackie, I know. Now then, go to your room and get your homework done. And I mean your math, not your drawings.” I said.

“Oh fine.” Jackie said.

She turned and ran off to her room and I walked into my room to see my wife, Selena watching TV.

“Hey Selena.” I said.

“Hey Gamma. Jackie up to her old tricks making Serk’s life tricky?” Selena asked.

“Yep.” I said.

“Serk had another adult site up didn’t he?” Selena asked.

“Yep.” I replied.

“Oh boy. When will he learn?” Selena asked.

“Probably when I get to the point where I ban him from his computers for a year.” I said.

“How long this time?” Selena asked.

“Two months.” I said.

“Alright. I’ll find something for him to do while he’s grounded. He can help me at the shop.” Selena said.

“I’m ready to have him work with Strike.” I said.

“We want to teach him a lesson not take away his sanity.” Selena said.

“Well, whatever works at this point.” I said.

“Suit yourself Gamma. Just don’t drive our son crazy.” Selena said.

“I won’t. Might scare him though.” I said.

“Well anyway, we need to talk about something.” Selena said.

“Sure, what is it?” I asked.

“Jackie told me the other day, Dragonia started up a foreign exchange program between other bases. Serk of course, wants to go to Hawaii. Jackie wants to visit New York.” Selena said.

“Let me guess, Serk wants to go to Hawaii to look at girls and Jackie wants to go shopping.” I said.

“You’re half right. Jackie heard the New York base has a great art teacher and she wanted to see if she could find something interesting to draw there.” Selena said.

“How long till the program starts?” I asked.

“A week. I told them I’d talk to you about it. Either one could be good for them. It’d be better than living in a base surrounded by snow all the time.” Selena said.

“Well I’ll agree with you there. But I worry about both places. New York has it’s dangers and Hawaii, I’m worried Serk is going to do more than just stare at women. He’ll more than likely try tp pick one up.” I said.

“And he won’t try that in New York?” Selena asked.

“No, in New York he’ll find a woman on the street corner and pay her. But New York I worry for Jackie’s safety. Sure she’s strong but she’s young. I don’t want her getting hurt.” I said.

“Well perhaps a compromise.”

“Where could we send them that they’d both be interested in?”

“Well maybe somewhere out of country. Like Italy, or Paris, or maybe Japan.”

“Hmmm… we’ll think about it some more. But those three sound like thye might be the better learning experiences for them.”

“Agreed. Nowthen, I should get to work. Mind if I drag Serk away from his homework?”

“Not at all.”

“Alright. I’ll see ya later big guy.” Selena said.

She kissed me and walked off to go to her tattoo shop she ran. I sat down on the couch in front of the TV thinking about the foreign exchange trip my kids wanted to go on and the past battles I’d been through.

“Just another day of my life.” I said to myself.

I soon became lost in thought, wondering how to handle the foreign exchange program and whether or not to let my kids go on the trip. Not really aware, of the possible adventures they could end up having.
